Kow Kee Restaurant Gambang Chicken Rice

Kow Kee Restaurant is a hidden gem in Gambang, you can hardly notice this kopitiam when you drive pass Jalan Gambang. However, it is known by locals that this place serves great food!

The most popular food here is probably the crowd favorite char siew. Unfortunately, when I arrived in the last hour before closing, their char siew has sold out so I didn’t get to savor it.

Instead, I got their Roasted Chicken Rice (RM7), which I think was decent (chicken was good) while the rice was quite hard and dry and less flavorful.

Kow Kee Restaurant Gambang Tofu

Their Stuffed Tofu (RM2.50) is a nice side dish / snack. The tofu, stuffed with ground pork with some braised gravy, was smooth, soft and tasted very fresh. Sweet chili sauce provided.

Kow Kee Restaurant Gambang Fried Chicken Wings

The Fried Chicken Wings (RM10) were very enjoyable too! Charred on the outside but still tender and juicy inside. The marinated layer was quite salty, however, so it was a little overwhelming eating them just by itself.

Kow Kee Restaurant Gambang Operating hours:

Daily: 9am – 3.30pm

Char Siew Rice – RM7

Chicken Rice – RM7

Fried Chicken Wings – RM10

Stuffed Tofu – RM2.50

Restoran Wonderland Valley Restaurant chicken farm

They also raise their own farm chicken here. Moreover, if you are lucky, you may meet a group of wild boars roaming around the area.

Restoran Wonderland Valley Restaurant Curry Wild Boar

Curry Spicy Boar 咖喱山猪仔 RM22: The wild boar curry was fantastic, while I would prefer it to have more curry in it. The meat was good and didn’t smell too gamey.

Restoran Wonderland Valley Restaurant Steamed Tilapia fish

Steamed Tilapia 蒸金凤鱼 RM35 per kg: The fish was fresh, generously coated with minced ginger garlic and light soy sauce.

Restoran Wonderland Valley Restaurant Steamed Farm Chicken

Steamed Farm Chicken 白切菜园鸡 (half) RM32: The chicken meat was chewy and slippery. Organs such as liver and gizzards were also included, and they were nice and soft.

Restoran Wonderland Valley Restaurant Signature Tofu

Signature Tofu 招牌豆腐 (large) RM25: Homemade egg tofu with fried outer skin, soaked in starchy gravy with some chunks of mixed vegetables. I wouldn’t say the taste was great but it wasn’t a bad dish to order either.

Restoran Wonderland Valley Restaurant Green Dragon Vege

Green Dragon Vege 青龙菜 (regular) RM12: Pretty good but a little fibrous.

Restoran Wonderland Valley Restaurant Xiong Tong Superior Lala Soup

Lala Soup 上汤啦啦 (medium) RM35: The soup was lacking of shaoxing wine. Big lala flesh with thick shell, in the soup together with some black fungus and cilantro.

Restoran Wonderland Valley Restaurant Goulou York on Ice

Sweet Sour Pork On Ice 冰镇咕噜肉 RM25: The pork didn’t have enough maltose coating to bring out the effect of crispy iced you lou york. The flavors were so so.
