Chapathi Recipes Restaurant Cheras Taman Connaught

Chapathi Recipes is a North Indian restaurant in Taman Connaught, Cheras. It features a wide variety of Indian cuisines, served in the comfortable, air-conditioned space. I order their Bread Basket (RM22), which consists of five different breads each: Chapati, Tandoori Roti, Garlic Naan, Butter Naan, and Aloo Paratha (potato stuffed bread). Nothing much to comment for the average chapati and tandoori roti, but the other breads were pretty good. The naans were buttery and not too thick. The aloo paratha had the nice spiced potato fillings that didn’t feel too heavy (carbs on carbs).

Note: These were on take-aways, hence the plastic containers and the lack of ‘bread basket’.

Also, I order the Butter Chicken (RM18) and Palak Paneer (RM17). The well-spiced Butter Chicken was not as spicy as it looked, but the flavors were nice and strong. The boneless chicken chunks were not too dry. The Palak Paneer was a little more spicier as some chili oil was poured onto it; a gentle kick, nothing overwhelming. I have a light palate and I found both dishes quite salty.

Restoran Chat Masala (Chat Masala Restaurant) is one of the most famous Indian vegetarian restaurants in KL.

Restoran Chat Masala Dosai

Dosai RM2.20: The tosai was average but decent. There were three types of dipping sauce which were the comforting dal curry, sweet and spicy sambal curry, and fragrant coconut chutney.

Restoran Chat Masala Banana Leaf Set

Banana Leaf Set RM7.40: Overall the vegetarian rice set was pretty good. Most of the vegetables were too soft for me but that’s typical. I didn’t like one of the dishes which used imitation meat that was floury and didn’t taste good. Two pickled dried chilies were given and they were salty and with a strong flavor, good to eat them with rice. Two types of curry were provided for you to add onto the rice as much as you need.

Restoran Chat Masala Rasam

As part of the rice set, the sourish rasam will also be given at the end of the meal.

Restoran Chat Masala Crispy Dosai

If you want your dosa crispy, you can order the Crispy Dosai (RM2.40) instead of the normal version above.

Restoran Chat Masala Paper Roast Dosai

If you are looking for something much more crispy, be ready to get the surprise of receiving an oversized Paper Roast Dosai (RM6)!

Restoran Chat Masala Puri

I have tried the Puri (RM3.50) at Restoran Chat Masala, they weren’t bad! It seems that the Pani Puri (RM4.50) were very popular too.

Operating hours:

Daily: 8am – 9pm

Dosai(RM2.20)

Crispy Dosai(RM2.40)

Paper Roast Dosai(RM6)

Puri (2 pieces)(RM3.50)

Banana Leaf Rice Set(RM7.40)

Onion Rava Masala Dosai(RM6)
