Restoran Singgang Budu is a restaurant that got famous due to a visitation by a famous international foodie. The restaurant relocated to a different location to cater for a bigger crowd. The food, however, wasn’t up to my expectations. The dishes such as Ikan Keli Berlada (catfish chili) and Ayam Masak Kicap (balck sauce chicken) were acceptable, though could be better.
What’s really bad was their supposedly signature dish of Restoran Singgang Budu, Daging Singgang (RM5). It was a dish with chunks of beef in the soup. The soup tasted pretty lame and weak. The chunks of meat have tendons so tough that were almost impossible to chew, and would often get wedged in between the teeth instead.
Also, their system goes by: 1) self collection of food; 2) line up at the billing counter to get your bill printed; 3) head over to the payment counter to order your drinks and make the payment; 4) and lastly, wait at the drink counter to collect your drinks. By the time you’re ready to sit down and eat, hot dishes would already become cold.
