Hock Kee Seafood was one of the good restaurants serving both unique and authentic mainstream food. Firstly, we had Seafood Otak-otak In Coconut. There were prawns, otak-otak, squids and shark meat. The sauce was cooked with the coconut juice and it was creamy and eggy. It was too full and couldn’t fit everything into the coconut so the chef had to put some into another bowl.
Next, the Salted Egg Bitter Gourd was tasty and the prawns were juicy. It was not a heavy salted egg dish but it had just the right amount of fried salted egg to pair with the bitter gourd.
Lastly, one of the unique dishes in Hock Kee Seafood, the ‘Cheese Chicken’, was more like a ‘Mayonnaise Chicken’, with some cheese flakes and curry leaves. The chicken was deboned and deep fried. However, some might not get used to the taste of mayonnaise in this recipe.
