When passing through Tairua during your trip to the Coromandel Peninsular, stop by at Johnny’s Tairua for an awesome meal and dessert.
They have good burgers and tacos. I had the Little Lamb (15NZD), which are tacos overloaded with pulled lamb, summer slaw, avocado smash, sour cream and coriander. While it was good, I kinda regret not having their customers’ highly rated Wild Bird (15NZD; crispy fried chicken tacos) and Fish Taco (15NZD).
Once you’re done with your main course, DO NOT LEAVE until you order their life-changing real fruit ice cream! The flavors are amazingly fruity and milky with a nice solid but creamy texture, and the size was HUGE! It was so large that it was the first time I felt so overwhelmingly full trying to finish one cone of ice cream. But man, that was the most satisfying ice cream I had so far in my life.
