You’ve probably heard all kinds of laksa in Malaysia, but have you heard of Laksa Sarang (nested laksa)? You’ll find one at Kedai Makan Gunung Reng (RM7.50). They may not be the first one to invent this dish, but I think theirs would be the most presentable one!
Laksa Sarang is basically Asam Laksa with a twist: Adding loads of fried egg floss to make a ‘nest’. I find the laksa broth here very sweet (typical Kelantan style) but still very enjoyable with the tangy, sour mix. The vegetables and pineapple were fresh. The egg floss was probably made beforehand but it didn’t feel too oily or satiating.
When at the area, do take a walk around Gunung Reng and explore the interesting caves (you’ll spot it from the shop).
