New Yong Len Restaurant is a food court at a corner lot in Taman Tun Dr Ismail. It is famous for two separate stalls specialize in two authentic Penang food: Char Kuey Teow and Prawn Mee (or Penang Hokkien Mee).
The bowl of unassuming yet hearty Prawn Mee (RM9 for regular, RM10 for large) was delicious! I guess when the stall sells only one thing, it has to be good. The broth was rich with the prawns’ essence. You could really feel the thickness in it. Penangites would approve!
You could say this is the best char kuey teow in TTDI. Yong Len’s Char Kuey Teow (RM10) has a decent intensity of wok hei and amount of charred on the noodles. Each plates are fried in individual batches with the same level of care. They ran out of duck eggs during my visit, but even with chicken eggs it was already very tasty.
