Pokli Mee Celup & Coconut Shake at Sunway Batu Caves (also branches in Setia Alam & Pinggiran Subang) let you enjoy a bowl (or two, like me) of Kelantan’s signature Mee Celup away from the state. Their also serve other traditional Kelate food such as Perut Muda Air Asam (sour beef stomach soup) and Nasi Air (soup rice).
For some reasons their also put coconut shake in the restaurant name as a main thing. I find their Coconut Shake (RM4) lacked the richness of the coconut flavor, but it’s nice that it wasn’t too sweet. They put ice cubes in the coconut shake instead of making it into blended ice.
The Mee Celup Special (RM7) consists of noodles, beef and an egg in a delicious bone broth that is flavorful without being too salty or “artificial”.
Malay restaurants’ noodles portion are always too little, so here comes a second bowl. This time I ordered the Kuey Teow Celup Urat Keting (RM8.50), which has very tender beef tendons instead of meat.
