Sek Yuen Restaurant (适苑酒家) is an old, well known landmark restaurant in Pudu, Kuala Lumpur. This nostalgic establishment has been serving old school Chinese dishes since 1948. While its iconic building still remain and function well as a restaurant, they have also opened up a new air-conditioned restaurant just beside it, so one can choose to eat either at the nostalgic place, or at the new place right beside it. We went to the original one and it was pretty spacious and airy.
Sweet and Sour Pork (Gu Lou Yok / 咕噜肉) RM25: All good with tender pork and flavorful tangy sauce. At such a traditional Chinese eatery, you can’t go wrong with the typical Gu Lou Yok!
Steamed Fish (RM60): A simple steamed fish drizzled with light soy sauce, yet the heat and timing were professionally controlled.
Luffa & Tofu (丝瓜豆腐) RM15: Super typical. What else can I say?
Stir-fried Sweet Potato Leaves RM15: Soft vege with simple seasoning but you could taste the ‘wok hei’.
Also, jars of pickled green chilies were placed on the tables for you as a condiment.
