Teluk Intan Chee Cheong Fun | Liew Kee (Ah Lek) 安顺燎记猪肠粉

When one think of Teluk Intan, mostly likely Teluk Intan Leaning Tower and Chee Cheong Fun come into the mind.

Also known as Anson Chee Cheong Fun (Teluk Intan was called Teluk Anson, named by the British during colonial times), Liew Kee (Ah Lek) Chee Cheong Fun is probably the original one who created this fame. First started operating famously at a house, it moved to a shop lot but the recipe stays.

Unlike the most typical chee cheong fun (steamed rice noodle rolls) that are plain and served with sauce or curry, Teluk Intan Chee Cheong Fun (RM8) are embedded with savory dried shrimps, and preserved radish, and served with a drizzle of sesame oil (game-changer), paired with pickled green chilies. All the savory but not overpowering flavors pair very nicely with the soft and slightly chewy rolls of chee cheong fun.

There is also a newer shop nearby, 新燎记加料猪肠粉（亚權）Sun Liew Kee, that sells the same thing but with a slight difference in taste and texture. Unfortunately it was closed when I visited near (but before) their closing time, so I couldn’t compare.
