Kim Yap Restaurant is one of the local shops in the Beaufort town in Sabah that sells authentic mee Beaufort (Beaufort noodles). I discovered this shop during the stop on my train ride to Tenom. The nearby Foh Chuan Restaurant is the more famous place to go for Beaufort noodles but it was closed during my visit.
Nevertheless, Kim Yap Restaurant serves satisfying noodles and rice meal, including the locals’ favorite Beaufort noodles. Mee Beaufort is called Mee Goreng Basah (RM9) in the local menu, it is translated as wet fried noodles. True to its name, the springy egg noodles are wok fried in high heat till slightly charred, before the silky clear gravy is added to the noodles. This creates a kind of delicious contrast of dry fried noodles in wet gravy.
