Kaikoura, a small coastal town in New Zealand, fame for its ocean wildlife and fresh seafood (Did you know? Kaikoura is a Maori word literally means “Eat Crayfish”. that alone tells you not to miss out the delicious crayfish here!).
Cods & Crayfish is a fresh seafood restaurant in Kaikoura. When I visited Kaikoura, my initial plan was to try out the famous Kaikoura Seafood BBQ Kiosk but it was closed on Christmas. So, I went to Cods & Crayfish instead and was astonished by the freshness and tastiness of the crayfish! Some reviewed that Cods & Crayfish is better than the famed Kaikoura Seafood BBQ Kiosk, probably due to the negative review on service and atmosphere of the kiosk.
The price of crayfish is based on its weight and the current market value. I forgot how much was it per kilogram, but I asked for the smallest available (yet still pretty big and meaty) and it costed $82. Pricy but totally worth it as a one time thing (still carves for more though T.T).
