Fin and Feather Eatery Oban Stewart Island Pulled Wild Venison

Fin and Feather Eatery is a take-away food truck in the township of Oban, Stewart Island. Even though it is an isolated island with limited supplies, Fin & Feather Eatery provides a seasonal variety of delicious gourmet menu. They even have the unusual mutton bird (known for its strong, salty, fishy, fatty meat) menu (seasonal).

For the mains, I ordered a Pulled Wild Venison with beet and fennel hummus, date chutney, leafy greens, flatbread, spiced plum gel and pickled grapes ($33). It was a unique combination but for me a little too fruity, ‘jammy’, and ‘pickledy’ for a pulled meat dish.

The fan favorites, however, is the island famous donuts. They serves mind-blowing boozy donuts, as well as non-alcoholic donuts. I had their boozy Fireball + Caramilk Panna-Cotta Pull-A-Part ($12). The pull apart donut was huge, strategically folded to maximize the crispy deep fried surface with floury insides. The white chocolate panna cotta dipping cream infused with the strong Fireball Cinnamon Whisky is out of the world!

Tuesday to Thursday: Closed

Friday to Saturday: 5pm – 7.30pm

Sunday: 10am – 2pm; 5pm – 7.30pm
